There’s something I did when I started to buy furniture for my house that I still consider a wise decision: getting white cabinets for my living room. It allows me to play a lot with it, and add change the look just changing a few objects; but of course you can apply the same tricks you’ll see today in your own living or dining room, it doesn’t matter which color it is.
As a lover of seasonal decor – especially Christmas – I just can’t resist to give a festive touch to some of the favorite elements of my house. Today, I’ll show you the changes I’ve done to the glass-door cabinet of my living room. The piece is wooden with white-finish that I customized it with golden handles last year. This is how it was looking:
As you can see, it was very neutral. We can mainly find glass, white porcelain and some wooden items. I like to give some hints of color to break the monotony, in this case using one of my favorite kitchen books: “Let’s do dinner” by Antoni Porowski.
Keys to apply for the Christmas look
Select some festive items that you want to include in the cabinet. Just a few, medium or big, and small ones for an extra touch.
Think which objects you could take away from the cabinet during the season, and look for another place in the house to store them temporarily. This way we will be able to create new empty spaces for the festive items. You can also rearrange the position of some objects within the cabinet for this purpose; just be careful not to overload any of the shelves too much, to avoid visual noise.
Add the festive objects to the key spaces your prepared, trying to have them not too close to each other.
That’s all! It’s time to enjoy your Christmas cabinet.
